The Secret to Glowing Skin

Dermatologists Say This Simple Routine Is the Secret to Glowing Skin

It seems obvious, but cleansing is one of the most essential steps in skincare. Irritants like foundation and other makeup products, dust and pollution from the air, and natural oils build up in our skin every day. New skin cells are also always being produced right under your nose, and the dead cells can create their own issues. All of these must be removed in order to prevent blackheads and acne to facilitate dewy, glowing skin.

Ridding oneself of the day’s dirt can instill a sense of freedom and self-control. Doctors can analyze your skin with more precision via specialty cameras that can reveal what is not visible to the naked eye. They are most helpful to find problems lodged deep inside your pores that a simple surface wash cannot fix.

These are the reasons a double cleanse is so important. You have likely had one if you had a professional facial, but we wanted to investigate how to have a spa-quality lather at home. We consulted Ryan Christopher, the global director of education for Cosmedix; Tanuj Nakra, MD, who co-founded AVYA Skincare; as well as board-certified dermatologist  Craig Kraffert, MD, for their advice. They were able to give tips on how to get a thorough wash through the process of double cleansing in the comfort of your own home.
